"Taking care of palm trees is taking care of life"

Let’s fight together the changes and challenges along the Northern Edge of the Saharahttps

JustPalmIt Foundation is a startup initiated in 2020. The main goal of the foundation is to realize positive impacts for people and the environment by planting as many palm trees as possible in the Sahara, supporting the climate and stopping desertification. The ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life and social situation of the local population in Saharan areas and to offer better economic prospects.

The foundation tries to achieve its goal by, among other things:

  • Organizing Travel trips to plant (palm) trees in Morocco.
  • Our vision is for a traveling future in which we continue to explore and experience our amazing world, but with a slower, more thoughtful approach, while at the same time planting (palm) trees, restoring ecosystems and maintaining those forests to remove CO2 from the air. This simple but powerful act can and will help reverse climate change and create a safe, sustainable future planet.
  • Strengthen the resilience of local communities and ecosystems.
  • Support local community groups to grow and become independent organizations for (palm) forest conservation.
  • Making so many people aware of climate challenges.
  • (Palm) planting trees, restoring (palm) forests, stopping deforestation and desertification.

Go to PLANT A PALM TREE and help ...
To participate in planting palm trees in Sahara you will receive a certificate and the GPS location of your palm tree. As a gift you will also receive a copy of my homemade poster!

JustPalmIt Foundation supports the following SDGs to realize its contribution and positive impact:
Thriving microeconomics: Improved agriculture and horticulture allow dates to be sold at local markets. The income of the cattle is higher because the meat production is larger. The production of honey, eraser, etc. and the breeding of palm tree products lead to more family budget.

Food for everyone: The cooler temperatures in the forest, the improved water management and making the soil more fertile make agriculture possible again. Sufficient food can be produced again, which also reduces the conflicts between farmers and nomads. In addition, the cows have enough grass to graze, so that they do not cause damage to the farmers' fields.

Better opportunities thanks to education: Thanks to the increased standard of living, mothers can pay the school fees for their children. The vicious circle is broken: the young generation can build its own future. Stopping unnecessary economic migration: By improving the socio-economic situation of the local population, an economic perspective can be offered. This prevents economic migration from migrating to Europe.

Enterprising women: The work on the land depends to a large extent on women. The women are paid for the seed mix they harvest. They support their families with it. Thanks to this financial independence, the women get a greater voice in the chapter. It even turns out that this method has an influence on a decrease in the number of births.

Stopping desertification: Our palm forests form a green buffer. The trees, shrubs, grasses and herbs prevent erosion by wind and water and the trees provide shade that protects the soil from drying out.
Better water management: Because of the palm trees there is vegetation which ensures a better infiltration of the rainwater into the soil. This again ensures more vegetation and better infiltration. As a result, much more rainwater becomes available to the plants and there is less need for irrigation. This irrigation is often carried out with water from fossil layers. In this way, this water is better protected as a reserve for the future.
More biodiversity: The palm trees increase biodiversity enormously. Both in flora and fauna: ants, termites, birds, the spore turtle (an endangered species), rabbits, hares, small rodents... Even the wild cat and the hyena return to their original habitat after a long time.

We also support Sustainable Development Goal 17 and seek to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalise the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development. A successful sustainable development agenda requires partnerships between governments, the private sector and civil society. These inclusive partnerships, built upon principles and values, a shared vision, and shared goals that place people and the planet at the centre, are needed at the global, regional, national and local levels.
